The Public Works Department has begun a multi-year program to replace all street name signs with new, more reflective signs. A total of 426 signs will be replaced over the course of three years.

Staff would like to provide members of the community with the opportunity to own a piece of Bear Valley Springs history by offering the old signs for purchase. The signs will be made available by auction. All money raised will be returned to the Roads Fund to offset the purchase cost of the upgraded signs and, with luck, accelerate the proposed replacement schedule.

    We have ordered the signs for Phase 2 of the replacement program. Signs should arrive within the next couple of weeks. Once the new signs have been installed, the auctions for the old signs will be posted and announced on our social media channels. We will also send an email blast to our BV Exchange mailing list so you can get your bids in!

    Thanks to past and current residents purchasing their favorite street signs, we are able to begin the next phase of sign replacement. Although Phase 2 was scheduled for late 2022 or early 2023, we're able to begin now! New signs for Phase 2 streets have been ordered. You will find the P2 street names in the Street Name Sign Schedule under the Documents on this site.

    The removed signs will be made available first to current residents and then to the public via online auction once the replacement is complete. As with Phase 1, all funds received from the purchase of these signs will be returned to the Roads fund to accelerate the project.

    The District has completed the first round of street name sign auctions. Initially the auctions were restricted to Bear Valley Residents. In December, the unsold signs were made available to the Greater Tehachapi Area.The auctions are complete, and assuming all payments are received the total generated is $1,736.59. All funds are being returned to the Roads Fund to help offset the cost of the signs. The total amount generated is equivalent to 42 new street name signs.

    Round Two has begun for the first batch of street signs. Residents had the first opportunity to buy the signs. Those that didn't sell are now being offered to the Greater Tehachapi Area. The signs are old and definitely used. Some are antique looking with many years of fading and some are in nice brown coloring. Pictures are of front and back. Not all aging may be noticeable, and we will not guarantee the condition of the signs.


    Auctions end on January 3, 2022

    Auction winners may pick up their signs at the Bear Valley Community Services District. Identification will be required for pickup.

The proceeds of this auction will go back to the Road Fund to offset the cost of the recently installed new street name signs and can help accelerate the replacement of remaining street name signs. Signs are old and definitely used. Some are antique looking with many years of fading and some are in nice brown coloring. Pictures are of front and back. Not all aging may be noticeable, and we will not guarantee the condition of the signs. Some are nice and straight, and some are bent.
