Four-year Cycle Road Striping Program
The Roads Division has prepared a 4-year cycle for road striping within the valley. This schedule began with the 21/22 Fiscal Year and the "West end striping project".

Several years ago (two, maybe three) I asked about potholes, particularly on Stirrup Way and Paramount. There was a token effort that filled a few, but that was all. Our roads crew is doing their best with what they have. I've seen many people say, "our roads used to be so much better maintained," and those people are right. The Roads budget is funded by a yearly assessment collected on our property tax bill. This assessment has not been increased in 26 years. For the crew to do the job today they did in 1996, we residents would need to pay an assessment of about $612/year instead of the $340 we currently pay. Increasing this assessment, and thus the road division's ability to maintain our roads would require a 2/3 or supermajority vote during the General Election. We are simply getting what we pay for.
Budget aside, our crew of 6 people does a fantastic job with what they do have. They perform preventative maintenance on 220 lane miles of road, triage and repair road damage, perform road repairs after the water department fixes leaks, trim trees, mow right-of-ways, sweep the streets, cut firebreaks, maintain drainage easements, plow snow, do storm cleanup, and more.
Here's a little "about" video we made for the Roads department if you're interested.Our roads do need more attention than they are getting. Our crew is focused on pavement preservation, and crack sealing is a very important part of that. Damage is assessed and repaired based on how much of a safety hazard it poses. Many of our roads need to be resurfaced. It's simply not in the budget to do so.
